The Capitals have achieved a real transfer coup: national player Simon Bäumer, one of the best German baseball players at the moment, will strengthen the DBL team from Bonn in the future.
The 24-year-old pitcher and first baseman is leaving the Guggenberg Legionnaires Regensburg after just one year and will be joining the three-time German champions from the federal city next season.

With a height of 1.95 meters and his presence on the field, the left-hander is one of the best players in the German Baseball League (DBL). Last season he was one of the top performers in the South: with a .420 BAVG (2nd), 49 RBIs (1st) and a 1.328 OPS (3rd), he set impressive accents. For his performance, he was named ‘Player of the Week’ twice by the fans and was also nominated for the MVP South.

Trained at the Hamburg Stealers, Bäumer attracted attention early on with his strong performances. Further important steps followed in US college baseball and in Australia, where he gained valuable experience at the international level.

Bäumer stands for versatility at the highest level. As a first baseman he provides a lot of power in the line-up, while as a left-handed pitcher he brings quality and depth to the Bonner bullpen. This combination makes him a real difference player.

Capitals sports director Florian Nehring emphasizes: “Simon brings everything we want: quality, experience and the absolute will to win. He will play an important role in our team.”
