When Meroda goes live from a warehouse in Tokyo in the middle of the night, high-quality designer vintage pieces, handbags, rare archive models and pieces with history are for sale. Not in a classic online shop, but live – in real time, with expertise, personality and direct exchange.

The founder of fashionfou is one of the first fashion retailers in Germany to sell designer vintage via eBay Live. It shows how an established luxury segment can be re-staged through live shopping.

Meroda grew up where others only visit: in her mother’s studio on Berlin’s Friedrichstrasse, directly opposite the former Galeries Lafayette. Her children’s room above, made-to-measure pieces, fabrics, sketches below. Fashion was never a job – it was everyday life. “I used to make collages out of Vogue magazines when I was a child,” she says. At eleven she earned her first money: buying Doc Martens and selling them on. The beginning of a passion that she would never let go of.

Today Meroda is the founder of fashionfou, sells designer vintage from all over the world and streams live – on eBay Live.

From Paris, Seoul and Berlin – straight to your living room

Meroda studied international business, lived in five countries and worked in IT project management. Fashion was always there, but for a long time only on the side. Only when her business exploded – 400 items sold in one month in her shop on Torstrasse in Berlin, features in Berliner Zeitung and SPIEGEL – did she take the plunge.

The next step comes almost logically: live shopping. “I saw how big the issue is in the USA and Asia – and thought: Why not here?” At eBay Live she finds exactly what she is looking for: reach, internationality, trust. And an audience that doesn’t just chase prizes, but wants to hear stories.

Live shopping as a new fashion experience

In her streams, Meroda doesn’t just sell products, she inspires and takes the community along with her. She presents her rare archive pieces in warehouses in Japan and talks about their origin, history and the value of the collector’s items. Luxury handbags costing several thousand euros change hands live – supported by trust, expertise and personality.

“Especially with luxury, you have to trust the person. You’re not just buying a product, you’re buying knowledge.” For them, this is exactly where the strength of eBay Live lies: proximity instead of glossy, exchange instead of anonymous checkout.

Why eBay Live works for fashion

Fashion thrives on emotion, context and community – and that’s exactly what the live format brings back. For Meroda, a stream feels “like drinking coffee together and there just happen to be some incredible bags on the table.”

The fact that eBay Live meets a large community is another advantage: no extra app, no hurdles. “Almost everyone already has an eBay account. You click in – and you’re there live.”

First mover in Germany

Meroda is one of the first fashion retailers to use eBay Live in Germany. She achieved five-figure sales in her first two streams – a level she had never achieved before at this speed. Your audience grows not just in numbers, but as a community: people who come back, ask questions and build trust.

“Live shopping is like today’s Tupper Party,” she says. “Just more global.”

And perhaps that’s exactly why their journey has only just begun.
