Teun Kuilboer has caused quite a stir with his sudden departure from the Videoland series Sleepers. He is said to have fought on the set with leading actor Robert de Hoog. What did RTL know about it?
At RTL they are always talking about it: creating a safe working environment. In the meantime, there seems to be bullying in the editorial staff of RTL Weer, a violent actor is being hoisted on a shield by the channel’s top management and the atmosphere on the set of the Videoland set Sleepers is so toxic that Teun Kuilboer has immediately resigned.
Brawl
The big question is: how well do RTL’s systems work to guarantee a safe working environment? Did the sender know about this or was it not even detected? “Sources contrast The Telegraph that the two actors would have come to blows during a drink after the third season.”
A journalist from the newspaper continues: “Kuilboer would have had enough that De Hoog would continue to take credit for ideas surrounding the plot and the series that Kuilboer had proposed.”
Very vague
Presenter Luuk Ikink finds it strange that it is not clear what exactly happened at Sleepers. “Do we know anything more about what would have happened? There are so many generalities,” he says RTL Boulevard.
Colleague Aran Bade: “That remains very vague, Luuk, indeed. There are several people today who want to say something in general about it, but we don’t know. It seems as if Teun and Robert have a dispute. They no longer follow each other on Instagram and there might even have been a fight.”
Denied
Officially a fight is denied, says Albert Verlinde RTL Tonight. “That is really denied, also by the producer, but the fact that it gets so high that you go away and the doors really slam shut… In general, that means that the door is really closed.”
According to viewers, RTL does not take responsibility. “Difference of creative insight, my ass,” says one Ceciel on the comment forum NU.nl. “It is not without reason that several stories appeared today about a bad atmosphere on the set. Videoland is disappearing. Very bad.”
Unsafe
A certain MM also thinks that RTL is failing to create a safe working environment. “It’s always good to remove yourself from an environment that is unsafe for you. And this almost never happens immediately, which is sad.”
Sleepers actresses Maryam Hassouni and Sinem Kavus have also spoken negatively about their experiences on set. The big question is: when will RTL practice their motto ‘stop hating, start loving, be sweet’?
