SBS 6 wants to buy John de Bever and his lover Kees de Bever away from RTL 5, where their successful soap opera is broadcast. “There are only two problems,” says John’s good friend Johan Derksen.

John and Kees de Bever have been appearing with their own soap opera on RTL 5 for a number of years now and that has been quite a success in terms of viewing figures. SBS 6 could use such a success now that the Meilandjes have left and it seems that ‘horror mother-in-law’ Monique Hansler can only last two seasons at most before the gimmick wears off.

Beavers to SBS 6?

In fact, according to Johan Derksen, who is close friends with John, SBS 6 is looking for a transfer. “Tina, do you know anything about the fact that SBS has approached the Bevers,” he says Today Inside.

Bar guest Tina Nijkamp then: “No, I don’t know, no.”

Wilfred Genee: “But are you supposed to tell that here or not?”

Johan: “Well, no, but I thought Tina knew about it.”

Tina: “It wouldn’t surprise me.”

Signed

Wilfred thinks it’s going to be difficult. “But they just signed with RTL, right?”

Johan: “That’s why. There are two things that are difficult, because they have just re-signed for next year with the soap and John de Mol once told me that RTL has contracts with a non-competition clause that states that during the first two years at a new channel you are not allowed to do the same thing as at RTL, so then they would not be allowed to make a soap.”

Tina: “No, oops.”

René van der Gijp laughing: “Lock them up for a year and film it!”

‘It fits well’

Tina doesn’t rule it out. “It wouldn’t surprise me, because De Bevers obviously fits in very well with SBS. They have a lot of viewers on RTL 5. That’s going very well. SBS also thinks about those viewing figures: this scores better than the Gillis family or the Bogaartjes that they now have. I understand that they are interested.”

How does the Bogaartjes soap score on SBS 6? “Mediocre. I also find it boring. It’s one of those Libelle families that has no edge. It’s all so perfect.”
