The rape charges against Marius Borg Høiby, 29, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, have continued to be discussed this week in court in Oslo. Among other things, a Norwegian newspaper reported on the trial VG.

On Thursday and Friday, the charge, according to which Marius would have touched the intimate areas of a sleeping woman and filmed her secretly, has been discussed. The alleged crime would have taken place in Oslo in March 2024.

Marius told the court on Friday that he had been out with his girlfriend at the time on the night of the event. They had argued and the girlfriend had left Marius.

Marius said that he got so angry that he tore the t-shirt he was wearing into shreds. Marius considers it possible that he would have knocked over the table in his emotional turmoil as well. Marius said that during the evening he used cocaine and ketamine and drank vodka.

Later during the night, Marius had met another woman and the two had ended up at her place, where they had had sex. According to the indictment, Marius would have touched the woman’s intimate areas after she fell asleep.

Marius had also photographed both sex and a woman’s intimate areas. The woman said she was not aware of the filming and would not have given permission for it.

Marius’ own explanations have varied as the proceedings have progressed. Among other things, Marius has said that he doesn’t remember taking pictures, and later claimed that he couldn’t have taken pictures because his phone was in airplane mode. Still, according to his words, he does not have clear memories of all the videos he shot.

In Friday’s session, Marius said that he had not specifically asked for permission to film and that he thought that the woman would have said if the film had not suited her.

Later during the trial, Marius said he had not realized she was sleeping. According to his memories, the woman was awake.

Marius admitted that he had used his phone’s camera on some occasions, but claimed to the woman that he had only used a flashlight without taking pictures.

– It was poorly done. I shouldn’t have done that. It was stupid, Marius said in court on Friday.

Aborted the session

Marius also got frustrated when the prosecutor asked him the same thing many times. Marius interrupted the lawyer’s speech in the middle of a question.

– May I just say that I am so tired of this question, which you have asked three times now, Marius said.

The prosecutor said he understood Marius’s boredom, but said the question must be asked a fourth time as well.

The question was whether Marius had agreed with his sexual partners that he could have sex while they were sleeping.

– Do I have to resubmit my comment? It’s exactly the same as last time, Marius said, continuing that there was no such agreement.

After this, Marius interrupted the prosecutor’s questioning and asked for a break from the proceedings. According to VG, Borg had rolled his eyes and shook his head as he walked out of the hall.

Marius is accused of raping a total of four women. Bonusprinssi has denied the rape charges. In each charge, the woman has not been able to resist the act due to sleep or intoxication. So the same question has been asked in court in connection with the handling of each alleged rape.

Marius has said earlier during the trial that he has made an agreement with some of his sexual partners that he would be allowed to continue having sex even if the other partner falls asleep. These cases are not related to the rape charges under investigation.

In relation to the previously mentioned ex-girlfriend, Marius is accused of harassment, assault, criminal damage, sexual harassment and violation of a restraining order. The harassment charge is separate from the events of the night. A total of 38 criminal charges have been brought against Marius.

The trial continues on Tuesday.
