If in Paris 2024 the absolute protagonist of the canteens was the chocolate muffin, in Milan Cortina 2026 the crown passes right on to tiramisu. The “culprit” of this viral trend is Jonas Hasler, twenty-year-old Swiss snowboarderwho from the village of Livigno is telling his very personal mission: to never be without a portion of his favorite dessert.

Jonas Hasler, who boasts a very loyal following on social media, has transformed his passion into a media sensation with hundreds of thousands of views. In one of his most clicked videos on TikTok, the snowboarder describes his treasure hunt among the canteen counters: «I think I found the “chocolate muffin” of these Winter Olympics. It will be tiramisu. Let’s taste it together. It always disappears immediately, I only managed to catch it once; now that I finally have it in my hands, and after hearing that it’s crazy, let’s see… Damn, it’s delicious. Oh my God, I’m going to get some more!».
Hasler’s “tiramisu-mania” doesn’t stop at the canonical times. Between midnight snacks in front of magnum-sized pans and videos in which he “goes crazy” because the supply has run out, the snowboarder has become the best possible testimonial for our cuisine. «The best tiramisu of my life» declared the athlete, ignoring (lucky him) the rigid pre-race calorie calculations to give in to the lure of mascarpone and ladyfingers.
Italian cuisine promoted with flying colours
This spontaneous success confirms this Italian hospitality and gastronomy are winning their personal gold medal. Jonas Hasler is certainly not the first to go crazy for Italian dishes. TikTok and Instagram are exploding with videos of athletes who they taste pizza, pasta and other delicacies from the Bel Paese with great enthusiasm in the canteens of the Olympic Village. In short, resisting Italian hospitality really seems like the only impossible challenge of these Games.
