It has caused a shock to many people: the news that Eva van de Wijdeven is wandering the streets of Apeldoorn homeless. What does her ex Tygo Gernandt know about this? “I already knew.”
Eva van de Wijdeven has fallen on hard times. After she pulled the plug on her acting career, things went downhill rapidly for her and she has currently been wandering the streets of Apeldoorn for quite some time. The juice channel Reality FBI has even posted a photo of the shopping cart she carries with her online: quite intense.
Manhunt
What does her ex Tygo Gernandt know about it? “I have been aware of the situation for longer than the media has been dealing with it now. When I heard it, and that was quite a while ago, all the alarm bells immediately went off for me. I wanted to help her immediately, I did not know where she was at that time,” he says in the New Revu.
He continues: “We have had very little contact lately. It has also been 25 years since we were dating. I think it is good that you are paying attention to it, but I do not want there to be some kind of manhunt for Eva, where she is now, what she does and how she behaves, because that makes no sense.”
‘It’s bad’
According to Tygo, this issue is very much alive in the acting world. “What I find difficult about it is that I also receive calls from fellow actors and colleagues. It’s all very bad. Of course she has to be helped by the government, I don’t know to what extent that happens. Of course it is her own choice, but that is also difficult to accept.”
“I make documentaries about drug addicts and in them you also see that the person really has to take steps. You really have to want it yourself. I was immediately excited when I heard this and then I also considered what I should do. I try to reach her every now and then, even if it is only to offer a cup of soup or an overnight stay, but I get no response.”
No help
Can’t Tygo drive through the streets of Apeldoorn sometime? “Maybe she doesn’t want to be helped or she has a different number. I get no response and that is very difficult. Then you also feel that someone is in the middle of it.”
“I hope for her that there comes a time when she realizes and feels: I don’t want this. She will feel that often enough, but she really has to want it herself to be helped and to go to an institution that can help her.”
