At the Winter Games, Wesselink is the pilot of the two- and four-man bobsleigh. It is only his fourth year as a pilot and therefore the first time he is going to the Olympic Games. “I don’t feel like an Olympian yet, because you really live. There hasn’t been a day that I have been able to lie on the couch and think about what awaits. When I walk in the Olympic village, that will probably happen.”
New job
Wesselink has now arrived in the Olympic village in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the place where the bobsleigh track is also located. Before the Games, there can be two more days of training on the track where it all has to happen. “The track is ready, but everything around it was not completely finished yet. The most important thing is that we can sled and that will work.”
