Ski jumper Anze Lanisek is looking forward to the start of the Olympics. According to his own statement, the two-time team world champion ticked off the Winter Games in Beijing four years ago.
“What was in Beijing should stay in Beijing. I started a new chapter back then. I’m not looking back anymore,” the Slovenian newspaper “siol.net” quoted Lanisek as saying.
The 29-year-old remained without a medal at the 2022 Olympics in China. Lanisek fell victim to the great competition within the Slovenian team and was left out of both the mixed jumping and the team competition. Here Slovenia won one gold (mixed) and one silver (team).
Lanisek doesn’t want to put too much pressure on himself. “The Olympic medal is still coming,” said the experienced ski jumper: “I have two youth medals, but none for adults yet. I’m not really worried about it.”
At the 2012 Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Lanisek won gold on the normal hill and silver in the team competition.
Promising season in ski jumping
Will there be a senior medal at the 2026 Olympics? “Everyone wants to have one. You have to go step by step. I have a very good foundation. I have to adjust myself correctly so that I can give the best that I have in me. The maximum that I can achieve,” Lanisek looked ahead.
The ski jumping season so far has been promising for the Slovenian. Lanisek is currently in fourth place in the overall World Cup behind teammate Domen Prevc and the two Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi and Ren Nikaido.
After the 2022 Winter Games were still affected by the corona pandemic, Lanisek is hoping for more Olympic flair this year. “It would be nice if we had a village where we could be together. So that I could also watch the competitions in other sports,” said the 29-year-old.
