… better and better!
The transfer market database has gained another milestone. The 1971/72 season, the third to last in the Regionalliga Südwest, is completely included in the database. In that season, Borussia Neunkirchen, with BVB legend Adi Preißler as coach, celebrated the championship with a seven-point lead. SV Röchling Völklingen came second, meaning both teams qualified for the promotion rounds to the first Bundesliga.
However, both clubs failed there. While SVRV came bottom of the table in its group of five, Borussia only finished third despite a resounding win (10-0 against Tasmania Berlin). Wuppertaler SV and Kickers Offenbach made it into the upper house. SV Alsenborn’s Manfred Lenz was the top scorer in the regional league with 28 goals in 29 games.
