Two Ukrainian players debut with Les Abelles rugby club

The captain of the Ukrainian rugby-7 team, Nataly Mzur, and its top scorer, Oksana Nykoriakdebuted with the Valencian team Les Abelles after having arrived in this city welcomed by a family linked to the clubwhich plays in the first territorial category of the Valencian Community and with which both could play the Copa de la Reina in the month of May.

Both players debuted this weekend in the competition with the XV rugby team and in their debut game they showed their ability and their ability to score from the three-quarter line.

In addition, both they and the rest of their companions jumped onto the field wearing bows with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The two players, after fleeing from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, arrived in Valencia and they joined a family that has three children who are rugby players, two of them girls who are part of the Les Abelles women’s team.

The president of the club, Antonio Márquez, highlighted the importance of sport and the values ​​of rugby to help Ukrainian refugees.

“From the club, we made ourselves available to the two athletes to welcome them in the best possible way in the family and in sports, ensuring their well-being at all times, and above all give them all the facilities so that they can dedicate themselves to their passion, which is rugby, and thanks to this sport they can escape from the sad reality that their country is experiencing“, he highlighted.
