Also called the Bonus Prince, Marius has admitted his guilt to some of the crimes, but he has denied the most serious charges.
Even before the trial, there have been enough twists and turns in Marius’s situation. On Monday, it was reported that he has been imprisoned. Earlier he was arrested and the court decided to keep Marius imprisoned for four weeks due to the risk of repeating the crime.
It was later reported that Marius has been taken to hospital. No more detailed information about Marius’ health has been made public. According to Norwegian media, members of the royal family visited the hospital on Sunday.
However, Marius arrived at the Oslo District Court on Tuesday and the trial began as planned.
The German newspaper Bild reported that Marius was shaking in court when the charges were read to him.
The Norwegian media say that at the end of Tuesday’s proceedings, Marius Borg Høiby will be taken back to prison and more detailed examinations will be made of his health.
– With a medical evaluation, we will find out if he can be there. Prison health care takes care of that, Marius’ lawyer Petar Sekulic comment to the media Dagbladet by.
The lawyer did not comment further on the hospital visit or Marius’ health condition.
