The self-invented sauce by Erik van den Heuvel from Den Bosch is so delicious that Remia has put it into production. Soon there will be a dot of ‘Tomotto’ on fries, not only in the Den Bosch region but also in the rest of the Netherlands.

They have known about it for a long time in Den Bosch and the surrounding area. Tomotto sauce over your fries or croquette completes it completely. The orange-yellow, somewhat spicy sauce is available in almost all chip shops, but it is slightly different everywhere. Remia did a taste test and Erik’s from cafeteria Bonna Fritura in Rosmalen turned out to be the tastiest.

From father to son
“What’s inside remains a secret,” says Erik with a genuine Den Bosch accent in Omroep Brabant’s radio program Afslag Zuid. “Only Remia knows the ingredients,” he admits. “And no, I can’t retire now if I even wanted to.”

Who ever came up with the sauce is a bit vague. Erik’s father already used Tomotto, but he passed away years ago so he can no longer tell where the sauce comes from. Everyone has given it their own touch over the years. “I spiced it up a bit.”

In the supermarket
Erik is especially proud that his Tomotto came out as the tastiest. “It means something to me that my sauce will soon be used everywhere.”

That is relative everywhere, because only the catering industry can buy Tomotto wholesale. “If that becomes a great success, Remia will also make it for ordinary consumers and Tomotto will also be in the supermarket. “The first sounds are very enthusiastic,” he said hopefully.
