With a classic from the 80s, the players of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) thank their fans after two years of Corona.
“I won’t walk in tonight without you,” 30 professionals from all 15 clubs sing along with the band Münchener Freiheit in a video produced with league sponsor Penny.
The song “Ohne dich” from 1986 was re-recorded with changed lyrics. The background: The fans are presented with the so-called “Unsung Hero Award” – as a thank you for their support even during the pandemic, when they were often not allowed into the stadiums.
Many supporters decided not to return their season tickets, and fan clubs organized countless other campaigns to help the clubs financially in difficult times.
“The support of all fans in the stands has been extremely lacking for far too long,” said captain Alexander Barta from Düsseldorfer EG.
