The recent dissemination of files from the United States Department of Justice linked to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, the financier convicted of crimes of sexual trafficking of minors, added an unexpected chapter to the international investigation: the presence of the name of Roberto Giordanothe Argentine stylist who died in November 2024.
According to the documents – part of a vast database of more than six million declassified files – Epstein would have made money transfers to Giordano on multiple occasionsmostly of approximately $500 each, without the papers clarifying the precise reason for these bank transfers or their connection to specific services.
The financial records and emails included in the case also mention a trip by Epstein to Uruguay in December 2016a fact corroborated by an email exchange in which Epstein postpones a meeting with the then Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak, citing an urgent trip to Punta del Este, a destination associated with Giordano’s social and business activities at that time.
Giordano, 79 years old at the time of his death, was one of the leaders of fashion and styling in Argentina for decades, known for his model parades in the Río de la Plata and for his presence at high society events. He spent his last years living in Uruguay, after having faced judicial sentences in Argentina for defrauding the State and non-payment of social contributions.
The appearance of Giordano’s name in the files linked to Epstein occurs within the framework of a broad declassification of documents that has generated new lines of analysis on the network of contacts and financial movements of the American financier, and which continues to be the subject of judicial and media scrutiny at an international level.
