Around 2 p.m., a body of a young man was found on the tracks near platform two of Waregem station. According to Infrabel, it was a collision with a freight train. What exactly happened is still under investigation. That investigation is in the hands of the police and the public prosecutor’s office of West Flanders.
At the request of the emergency services, two of the three tracks in the station were temporarily out of use. The third track remained usable all this time, but no trains were allowed to stop there. As a result, train traffic between Waregem and Deinze was severely disrupted. The two tracks are now back in use and train traffic can run normally.
