Fortuna Düsseldorf has hit the transfer market again on the home stretch. As the second division team confirmed on Monday evening, Kilian Sauck comes from Borussia Mönchengladbach, where the 18-year-old offensive man was active for the second representative in the Regionalliga West. U19 national player Sauck receives a contract in Düsseldorf until June 2029.

Fortuna’s sports director Sven Mislintat explained: “With Kilian we are gaining a very young offensive player with strong abilities and great development potential. He is courageous with the ball at his feet, has good speed dribbling and can use his qualities to create chances in the final third. We are happy that Kilian is joining Fortuna.”

Hamburg-born Sauck, formerly active in the FC St. Pauli youth team, said: “It is my great wish to take the next step in my career. I am convinced that I can develop ideally here at Fortuna. I see the move as a great opportunity and will work hard to take advantage of it.”

Gladbach’s sports director Rouven Schröder stated: “Kilian is a talented player. Despite his talent, he was not able to make the long-term transition to the professional level with us and did not go beyond playing for the U23 in the Regionalliga West. The move to Fortuna Düsseldorf is therefore a great opportunity for Kilian and a good solution for all parties. We wish him all the best for his future.” Sauck is the fourth winter signing for Fortuna, who have been disappointing this season, following the signings of Satoshi Tanaka, Jordi Paulina and Marin Ljubicic.
