Mary of Denmark she decided to take off her institutional clothes and put on the (very elegant) ones of the number one fan. During the final of the European men’s handball championships, which saw Denmark triumph over Germanythe Queen stole everyone’s show: between screams, hands in hair and waving scarves, her “ultra” version drove her compatriots crazy.

Mary of Denmark unleashed in the stands

The line between royalty and common people disappears when sport is involved. During the fiery final of the European Handball Championships between Denmark and Germany in Herning, Mary of Denmark lived every minute of the match with a rare intensity for a member of the royal family. While his national team was fighting for the European title (then won with a clear 34-27), the Queen has been through a real rollercoaster of emotions.

The photos showing her with her head in her hands during moments of tension or while proudly waving a scarf with the writing “Danmark” they tell of a woman who lives sport with the same determination as her subjects.

A “Patriotic Chic” look to copy

Even in the fan version, Mary did not give up a touch of absolute class, interpreting the colors of the Danish flag in a glamorous way. For the evening she chose an outfit that expertly mixed luxury brands and refined garments: a red ikat print shirt by La Bagatelle combined with black trousers and dark ankle boots.

But what made the difference were the accessories: a couple of Gucci eyeglasses with an intellectual-chic flavor and a bag Hugo Boss fiery red coordinated. A perfect mix of patriotism and style that made her radiant even under the lights of the sports hall.

«Can I hug them?»: the sweet backstory

The most talked about moment, however, came after the final whistle. While Denmark celebrated winning the European gold, Queen Mary took to the field for the awards ceremony. According to the Danish media, in the throes of enthusiasm, Mary asked coach Nikolaj Jacobsen a very sweet question: «Can I hug the players?». Once the green light was obtained, the sovereign held the champions close to her, congratulating them on the performance, which was then described on official social media as “absolutely fantastic”.
