The West Flanders Court of First Instance has convicted five defendants for illegal works on a site on Oosteroever in Ostend. This is an area around Fort Napoleon that is protected as a landscape and where, in principle, no construction or paving is allowed. The construction companies and those responsible must together pay more than 150,000 euros in fines and restore the site.
