THEthe medical drama Hearts restarts with a third season set in 1974five years after the events recounted previously. The first episode airs tonight on Rai 1 at 9.30pm with the sentimental and professional adventures of Delia Brunello and Alberto Ferraris. Finally, after the turbulence of the past, the two got marriedthey work together at Molinette and dream of having a child.
Not everything will go smoothly obviously. In a new head doctor arrives at the hospital who will hinder Delia’s research project. Director La Rosa’s motto is: “Zero risks”. So why entrust the responsibility of a research project to a woman who would like to become a mother? However, Delia doesn’t give up. To further shuffle the cards in the cardiologist’s life, she is a young singer named Irma, who hangs around Alberto. And it’s not the only new entry from Hearts 3.

Turin, 1974. Delia (Pilar Fogliati) and Alberto (Matteo Martari) are married and they have a dream: to have a child. The cardiologist also has the ambition to continue her research project at the Molinette hospital, but La Rosa, the new head doctor (Fausto Maria Sciarappa) with an inflexible character, does not support it, and implements a series of changes.
First of all, he kills Sister Fiorenza and announces a competition to appoint a new head of the nursing department. The new rule of seniority takes over in the operating room: only Alberto and Fausto Alfieri (Carmine Boschini) operate. Helmut Becker thus becomes a subordinate, despite his recognized professionalism. Ferraris tries in vain to support him.

The funds dedicated to Delia’s project are also cut. However, Ferraris’ studies on bypass to stabilize heart attack patients are supported. Delia tries to reason with the director, without obtaining results. A new course is about to begin at Molinette. Virginia (Bianca Panconi), daughter of Cesare Corvara, marries Helmut. She would like Alberto to accompany her at the altar, but an emergency stops the doctor in hospital. A mysterious girl arrives in the ward, Irma Monteu (Carolina Sala), a singer who seems to have something to do with Ferraris’ past. The woman will bring chaos to the relationship between Delia and her husband.

The third season of Hearts has several changes in store. The 1970s moved the bar upwards, especially in the social and medical fields. There are many scientific revolutions that will be implemented: from the birth of intensive care to the new bypasses coronary arteries, up to the first experiments that will lead to angioplasty.
NoIn 1974 the referendum on divorce was voted on, miniskirts arrived and women are more uninhibited and more inclined towards professional fulfillment, without giving up the role of mothers. The series directed by Riccardo Donna also has sentimental dynamics at heart which will shake most of the characters.

Hearts 3: the cast and characters
DElia and Alberto Ferraris are played by Pilar Fogliati and Matteo Martari. The couple, who work in the cardiology department of Molinette in Turin, want a child. Their relationship will be questioned by a mysterious woman, Irma Monteu (Carolina Sala), a singer who ends up in hospital after taking a bottle of barbiturates. What ties you to Ferraris?
Virginia Corvara (Bianca Panconi), Cesare’s daughter, is now a woman. In the first episode he gets married. She preferred the German doctor Helmut Becker (Nicolò Pasetti) to the cardiologist Fausto Alfieri, (Carmine Boschini) who is still in love with her. THEthe anesthetist Ferruccio (Marco Bonini) with his beloved Serenella (Neva Leoni) they crowned their dream of love by adopting little Anna. But family life is just as demanding as work life. Luisa (Benedetta Cimatt), Alberto’s sister, has a new heart after the transplantand lives a complex love story with Riccardo (Piero Cardano).

Among the new entries Giulio Scarpati
Among the new entries, in addition to the young Carolina Sala, in the role of Irma Monteu, there is Fausto Maria Sciarappa, in those of Luciano La Rosa, the rigorous head doctor of Molinette. He will be the one to revolutionize the cardiology department. The former doctor carries with him an enormous sense of guilt due to an error in judgment forces his son Bruno to live on an artificial lung. He entrusts Alfieri with the care of his son, together with the pulmonologist Roberta Gallo.
Giulio Scarpati plays Gregorio Fois, a psychic who meets Delia and Alberto during Virginia and Helmut’s pre-wedding party. «He is a character fascinated by the intangible and the inscrutable. His non-scientific vision clashes with that of the two doctors, but as time passes a certain feeling will be created between them”, states Scarpati. Luca Barbero (Matteo Sntucci) is the new anesthetist at Molinettewhile Francesca Lozito is Assunta, the most qualified nurse in the hospital, at least that’s what she says. This is why he doesn’t get along with Serenella.
