Five homes on Kristaldreef were evacuated on Saturday afternoon due to a strange smell. It hung in the street after probably a dumping of gasoline in the sewer.
The fire brigade and grid operator Enexis came to the street to investigate. When it became clear that someone had probably dumped gasoline, the residents were allowed to return home.
They have been instructed to flush dish soap down the drain. The fire brigade hopes that this will dilute the liquid sufficiently. If this is not the case, the fire brigade will rinse the sewer.
The police are investigating who is responsible for the dumping.
