A residential unit in Nijeveen has been closed by order of mayor Arjen Maathuis (VVD) due to the discovery of hard and soft drugs. Two electroshock weapons were also found.
The discovery was made during a police raid a few weeks ago. Maathuis closed the residential unit on Friday for a period of three months.
The mayor speaks of a worrying situation. “The presence of drugs and weapons creates an unsafe situation in the neighborhood. This affects the quality of life and poses a risk to local residents. This closure contributes to restoring public order and safety and combating drug trafficking.”
If a commercial quantity of drugs is found in a building, such as a house or garage, the mayor is authorized to temporarily close a house or building.
