John van den Heuvel’s correction has not yet been completed and Sylvia Geersen’s fiancée has already ended up in jail. “This is of course a very sad day for her,” she said.

Sylvia Geersen and her new fiancé Piet urged crime journalist John van den Heuvel last week to correct his statements about him – he shouted that Piet had behaved violently on Rachel Hazes’ terrace and that he has a criminal record – and he also complied. John backed down live on television.

In handcuffs

This correction was painful for John, because it seemed as if he had made a blunder for the umpteenth time. But he has not yet expressed his correction or Sylvia’s husband is in jail. He was handcuffed by the Spanish police as part of a larger Dutch investigation, in which five more suspects were arrested.

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker finds it spicy, he says Show news: “Yes, she is barely engaged to Piet. She has known him since September and things looked very rosy, but today her whole life actually changed, because yesterday five people were arrested in Oostvoorne in the Netherlands, and today one in Marbella on the Costa del Sol.”

Firearms

The last suspect is Sylvia’s fiancée Piet. “The accusations are clear. They were arrested in connection with violating the opium law and possessing firearms. Kilos of MDMA and ecstasy pills were found, plus two firearms.”

In other words: Piet doesn’t seem like a pure type. “Piet recently appeared in the weekly magazine Panorama, where a large article was also devoted to him. Yes, he is of course 61 years old and it is quite shocking for her that this happened today. She continues to maintain that he is innocent and will be released very soon, but this is of course a very sad day for her.”

Sylvia responds

What does Sylvia herself say about it? “I have known my love for 25 years. He is also friends with my family. We have crossed paths again and he is the love of my life,” she tells Shownieuws by telephone. “I am so incredibly happy and I can’t wait to say I do at the altar right away.”

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden at the desk: “I think it’s brave that she is speaking to us today. I would have better things to do on a day when your fiancée has been arrested, but at the same time: it may be false hope that she is expressing here. You are not just grabbed by the buttocks in such an investigation, I think.”
