The fake agents tried to collect valuables from a 69-year-old resident of Hippolytushoef yesterday.
The man was first called by someone posing as a police officer. This person told him there had recently been a burglary in the area and suggested he secure his valuables so they wouldn’t be stolen. It was said that a colleague would come by to pick up his things.
Caught red-handed
He did not trust it and warned his family, who then called the police. When one of the fake police officers appeared at the door, the suspect was caught red-handed and arrested by real police officers – who had meanwhile hidden in the house. It concerns a 23-year-old woman from Amsterdam.
Shortly afterwards, the police stopped a car on the A7. This car had previously been spotted in Hippolytushoef. In the car were two men aged 27 and 46 from the province of South Holland. They are suspected of involvement in the fraud and have also been arrested.
