Due to a police investigation, the A59 from Den Bosch to Breda will be closed on Thursday from eleven in the morning to two in the afternoon. The police are investigating in Nieuwkuijk because of a shooting that took place on the highway last week. A sniffer dog is used to look for traces.
During the closure, traffic can continue onto the A59 via exit 42, near Heusden. Around eleven o’clock in the morning, the closure adds half an hour to extra travel time from Den Bosch to Breda.
Shooting
The East Brabant police confirm that the closure is related to a shooting that took place on the highway last Thursday. Three people were arrested.
A dark Kia in which the three were traveling was hit by two other motorists near Nieuwkuijk. Then shots were fired. It is still unclear by whom, this is being investigated.
The three occupants of the Kia fled on foot. Officers were able to arrest the trio a short time later. One of the three was slightly injured and was treated in hospital. The other two cars took off.
A2 also closed for research
The A2 near Eindhoven was also closed on Wednesday evening for a police investigation. This involved an investigation into the pursuit of a car thief in which two motorcycle police officers were seriously injured in October last year.
A braking test will be carried out on the road with the car in which the suspect was driving at the time.
