Mark Koster thinks that Albert Verlinde has been taking himself a little too seriously lately. The Telegraaf columnist agrees with critics who believe that Albert is not himself in RTL Tonight.
It is inevitable that Albert Verlinde deeply regrets his transfer from the successful Today Inside to the highly criticized RTL Tonight. He leaves it open whether that is the case, but he did recently admit one thing in the Libelle, namely that he found the initial phase intensely difficult. “It kept me awake at night.”
Wake up Albert
What kept Albert awake? “Unfortunately, it turned out differently than I had hoped. The first few months we really had to look for good form. In the meantime, we were razed to the ground.”
The poor show connoisseur almost died. “It really weighed me down and I was a bit lost for a while. I really needed Onno. That’s why I sometimes drove to Brabant after the recordings, so I could be with him.”
Exaggerated
Media columnist Mark Koster from De Telegraaf thinks this is really exaggerated. “Albert had given half an interview that he kept awake at night because of the switch. Tina, what are we talking about?” he says in his podcast The Media Week.
He continues cynically: “There is hunger in the world, people are being shot dead in Minneapolis and Albert Verlinde is awake because of a transfer? Albert, please, then you really take yourself too seriously! He takes himself way too seriously, also at RTL Tonight. He wants too much.”
“You see that!”
Co-host Tina Nijkamp agrees. “You see that as a viewer. That exaggeration, like: it has to be fun and fantastic and wonderful!”
Mark: “RTL has to stop that, dude.”
Tina: “Yes, RTL Tonight may really have to stop.”
Mark concludes: “The table back and normal people at the table.”
