After Alex Pretti’s death during an ICE operation, Billie Eilish makes an urgent appeal to celebrities. Olivia Rodrigo and FINNEAS are already reacting.
After the death of Alex Pretti during an operation by the US immigration authorities ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) on Saturday, January 24, 2026, several musicians have publicly commented on ICE’s actions. Big earners are now also taking a stand. First and foremost: Billie Eilish.
She addressed her colleagues from the entertainment industry directly in an Instagram story. She didn’t need many words to make her point clear.
Is there anything else coming?
The multiple Grammy winner posted a selfie with the question: “Hey my celebrity colleagues, are you going to comment? Or…” The 23-year-old appealed to other celebrities to use their reach and position themselves on the events. Billie Eilish also implied that positioning is still a rarity at the moment.
She also shared information about Alex Pretti, ICE and the current immigration policy in the USA in the following Instagram story slides.
Olivia Rodrigo condemns immigration authorities’ actions
Olivia Rodrigo also spoke out after the death at the end of January. The singer called ICE’s actions “irresponsible” in an Instagram Story, adding: “We are not powerless. Our actions matter. I stand with Minnesota.”
Rodrigo also shared a post from political commentator Ben Sheehan, who described ICE as a “murderous federal agency terrorizing an American city” and called on the Senate to block further funding for the agency.
FINNEAS criticizes double standards in the gun rights debate
Billie Eilish’s brother and producer FINNEAS posted a video on his Instagram account in which he addressed the arguments of Second Amendment supporters. He criticized what he saw as the contradictory attitude of conservative circles to Pretti’s death. In his contribution, FINNEAS argued that many conservative voices used the argument in school shootings that the right to bear arms must be protected, even at the cost of children’s lives. In his view, justifying Alex Pretti’s death by saying he had carried a gun represents a double standard: “You’ve been telling us for 30 years that children have to die so that we can legally carry guns anywhere in the United States.”

Billie Eilish’s Political Commitment: A Constant Voice
This is not the first time that Billie Eilish has taken a political stance. The artist has repeatedly commented on social and political issues in recent years. During the 2020 presidential campaign, she publicly supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and encouraged young people to vote. She also called on her fans to vote in the 2022 midterm elections.
Eilish was particularly committed to issues such as reproductive rights, especially after the overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court in 2022. At the Glastonbury Festival, she harshly criticized the decision, calling it “really dark” for women in the US.
She also campaigned for climate protection, spoke openly about mental health and commented on the Black Lives Matter movement. Her political commitment is always characterized by the conviction that people with reach have a responsibility to support social concerns.
