(toskanews) – Danilo Stramare at 88 years old go back to running with the Olympic Flame70 years after bringing it in 1956, the year it hosted the Winter Games in the pearl of the Dolomites: Curtainstage number 50 of the Flame’s journey which precedes the Winter Games starting on February 6 in Milan. A significant and exciting stage, because during its journey it touched the symbolic places and Olympic venuesincluding the ski slope and the bobsled slope, up to the ice rink. Askanews traveled the route with the Fiamma convoy.
The Flame passed from hand to hand, from torchbearer to torchbearer, crossing the symbolic points of the city. The first topical moment is the Olympia delle Tofane slopewhich will host all the women’s alpine skiing races. The sacred fire of Olympia was carried by a torchbearer together with the former ski champion Kristian Ghedinasupported by 25 ski instructors. Still from hand to hand, the Flame arrived at the Sliding Centreon the bobsleigh track. Here we are at turn 3 of the route.
And here is the final moment of the Flame’s journey to Cortina, with the City Celebration in Largo delle Poste. The brazier is lit, in the presence of the institutions. Now the “sacred fire of Olympia” will be kept at the Municipality until the cauldron is lit during the Opening Ceremony on February 6th.
