Ozzy Osbourne has undoubtedly had a wild time since he hit the world stages with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist in the early ’70s. In an interview he talked about a wild cocaine trip that he went through with none other than Lemmy Kilmister in the early 80s.
During his first solo tour, Ozzy Osbourne and Lemmy Kilmister apparently took drugs for a week. And so the “Prince of Darkness” probably had to cancel some appearances.
“We had a few days off, so I went to Sharon’s dad’s house and Lemmy Kilmister came with us,” Osbourne said in the interview. “It was about time to go on tour again, but I had been doing coke all week. I went out into the garden, Lemmy came out too and his face was whiter than a ghost. He looked at me and said ‘Damn, I hope I don’t look as bad as you’. If Lemmy Kilmister says that to you, you must look like shit. I said ‘cancel the gigs’.”
Ozzy Osbourne later spoke about Lemmy Kilmister’s death in 2015. “It really hurt me. He was a good man.” At his last show, the Motörhead frontman was just “skin and bones”. “I called him the day he died. Sharon and I wanted to go to his apartment, so we called him and I don’t know who answered, I just wanted them to tell me to come over. Then on the third or fourth call they said, ‘He’s gone,'” Osbourne said.NME“.
Elton John and alcohol
Osbourne also told a few stories about Elton John, with whom he collaborated for the first time on his new album “Ordinary Man”. When asked why the two, despite being friends for a long time, never partied together, the singer explains: “I don’t think we would have made it into the ’90s if we had. I remember when Sharon took me to one of his concerts years ago. His entire dressing room looked like a bar with every booze you could imagine. He easily did seven shows in a row. I asked him, ‘How the hell can you keep singing?’. If I had only thought about cocaine, “My voice would have been lost straight away.”
