After Don Lemon’s report about ICE operations, Nicki Minaj escalates with violent insults. The reporter counters with sharp accusations. The scandal in detail.
The US rapper Nicki Minaj announced herself as a Trump supporter some time ago and has since repeatedly spoken harshly towards his critics on various social media channels. Now she attacked the reporting of a freelance reporter in Minnesota.
Wild hostilities on X
The former “CNN” presenter Don Lemon, now a freelance reporter, reported on a protest that was directed against the operations of the immigration agency ICE. This interrupted an ongoing church service in the city of St. Paul in the state of Minnesota. The reporting was streamed live.
In response, the 43-year-old posted a message on Her statement continued: “How dare you? I want to see this criminal behind bars! He would never do something like this to another religion. Lock him up!”
Reporter answers sharply
The 59-year-old is openly gay, married, and it didn’t take long for him to respond to the musician’s hostility. In a statement to TMZ, he said: “It doesn’t surprise me that Nicki Minaj has no knowledge of journalism and interferes in matters beyond her authority.” It continued: “However, a more appropriate image for her post would be a ‘Pick Me’ doll.”
In another interview with “TMZ Live,” the press representative then became more abusive. Here he added that the rapper needed to “sit down” and “grow some sense,” calling her a “homophobic, narrow-minded and ignorant woman.”
On Monday, January 20, 2026, the American spoke again via X. However, there was no trace of apology or remorse for her hostile statements in her new statement. She simply wrote: “LOL!!! And I wrote it that way on purpose because I knew it would be the only way to get the assholes to post about it. Otherwise they would have all collectively ignored Lemon Head’s disgusting behavior.” She added: “I’m glad they’re angry! They’re going to get angrier!”
Controversies since appearing on Turning Point USA
The controversy surrounding the US rapper has been increasing since she appeared at an event organized by the right-wing conservative organization Turning Point USA alongside Erika Kirk, the widow of the late right-wing activist and Trump supporter Charlie Kirk. During this event, she described US Vice President JD Vance as a “role model” for young men and sang hymns of praise for Donald Trump.
Since then there has been increasing criticism. Around thousands of people signed a petition on the website “Change.org” calling for the musician to be deported to her homeland of Trinidad. She herself immigrated to the USA from there at the age of five.
