Horror injury in Kiel – Lautern shocks Hanover

There were three games in the 2nd Bundesliga on Sunday. Several teams stumbled in the promotion race, and there was also a serious injury scene in Kiel.
After Schalke and Elversberg lost points, several second division teams wanted to reduce the gap to the top on Sunday. The fight for the coveted promotion places became a minor matter because Paderborn’s Calvin Brackelmann was seriously injured in Kiel.
After an aerial duel, the defender crashed unhappily and with full force onto his neck, probably sustaining a head or vertebral injury. The Paderborn player had to be treated on the pitch for eight minutes. He was ultimately transported away with his spine fixed and appeared to be conscious again.
Holstein Kiel ultimately beat SC Paderborn 2-0. At the same time, VfL Bochum, the other Bundesliga relegated team, delivered a goal spectacle. In the end it was 3:3 against SV Darmstadt. In the third game of the early afternoon, 1. FC Kaiserslautern turned things around against Hannover 96 and ultimately won 3-1.
The game was overshadowed in the final phase by a serious fall by Paderborn’s Calvin Brackelmann. The defender was treated for minutes and then taken off the field on a stretcher to applause.
Steven Skrzybski gave Holstein the lead from close range with a header (19th). It was Kiel’s first goal – and it immediately caused cheers in the Holstein Stadium. Lasse Rosenboom (67th) added a second half for the North Germans.
Paderborn had the first chance of the game through Sebastian Klaas (8th). After a successful combination, he finished from 16 meters, goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey cleared for a corner. As the first half progressed, the visitors’ momentum was lost and Kiel worked its way into the game. At the beginning of the second half of the game, the SCP built up more pressure again, but the Kiel team scored again.
In front of 24,922 spectators in the Bochum stadium, Fraser Hornby gave the guests an early lead (7th minute). But Francis Onyeka (11th) and Philipp Hofmann (27th) initially turned the game around for VfL before Isac Lidberg (36th) equalized again to make it 2-2. In the second half, an unfortunate own goal from Leandro Morgalla (68′) put Darmstadt back in the lead, but joker Callum Marshall equalized on his Bochum debut (82′).
