In the first match of the return round, Poeta’s team achieved their seventh consecutive victory in the championship and joined Bologna and Brescia at the top. Cremona victory against Trento

Giovanni Girolimetti

January 17, 2026 (changed at 10.05pm) – MILAN

The second round of Serie A opens with the victory of Olimpia: at the Nova Arena in Tortona Armani beats Bertram 87-78 thanks to the accelerations of Bolmaro and Mannion (34 points combined). The Piedmontese only resisted for half the match, before suffering the excellent defensive organization of Poeta’s team, who kept Tortona without a point for 4 minutes in the second half and allowed EA7 to escape. Milan thus joins Bologna and Brescia at the top of the table, awaiting tomorrow’s matches. In the second match of the evening Cremona beat Trento 94-85 thanks to an extraordinary Davide Casarin with 20 and 9 assists. Jones and Steward were not enough to save the Eagle, stopped by a 13-27 run in the last quarter.

TORTONA-MILAN 78-87

After the bitter defeat at the Forum that opened the season, Olimpia bounces back in a big way at the home of the Piedmontese: it is the seventh consecutive victory in the championship for Poeta’s team. Bertram leads the way at the start of the match, thanks to the fluidity from the arc of Strautins, Vital and the rest of Fioretti’s perimeter shooters (7/12 from 3 in the first half). But the home team had difficulty establishing themselves in the opponent’s paint and left several tracks open inside their own area, which were exploited repeatedly by Mannion and Bolmaro: at half-time the score remained balanced (50-49). The first break of the match comes in the second half: Olimpia’s defensive pressure works, Tortona no longer finds the back of the net from long range and so Milan takes advantage of Nebo’s size to complete the 9-0 run in the 29th minute (60-69) which triggers the EA7 lead. Flaccadori’s triples in the last quarter finally sent Poeta’s team flying away, which in the 33rd minute went up +16 (61-77) and then never looked back.

Tortona: Vital 19, Hubb 16, Strautins 13

Milan: Bolmaro 19, Mannion 15, Ellis 10

TRENTO-CREMONA 85-94

Great success for Cremona, with the two points tonight they move away from Trento in the standings. Vanoli leads for almost the entire first half of the match thanks to an extraordinary production from beyond the arc (9/19 in the first 20′) fueled by the excellent management of Veronesi and Casarin, but Steward’s impeccable first half (15 points with 3/3 from 2 and 3/3 from 3) and the efforts spent on rebounds (24-18 to 18 in favor of L’Aquila) still keep Trento ahead at half-time (49-48). In the second half, DeVante’ Jones comes up with more shots: Dolomiti Energia has the opportunity to accelerate, but an empty pass makes Trento’s attack stagnant, which remains without a point for 3′, while Cremona remains in the wake with triples by Willis and free throws scored by Durham (70-67 at 29′). Trento misses the opportunity to break away from Vanoli, in the last quarter the guests punish with a 12-1 run (73-79), Cremona regains the advantage that was missing from the first half. In the decisive minutes Trento wasted a lot of balls and remained stuck on the scoreboard for another 4′: Veronesi’s triple just before the siren arrived with the match already closed.

Trento: Steward 22, Jones 18, Jakimovski 11

Cremona: Veronesi 21, Casarin 20, Willis 18
