Genoa coach Daniele De Rossi presented the match against Parma in a press conference. Here are his words
Genoa is preparing to face Parma at the Tardini for the 21st matchday of Serie A: kick-off on Sunday at 12.30. The rossoblù are coming off a 3-0 success against Cagliari. Coach Daniele De Rossi presented the match in the press conference: “We arrive as well as in the other matches. I’m afraid of these matches where we arrive too well. We always try to keep our concentration high. We are still very far from our goal. We have to be careful because it’s a challenging challenge. It’s not a final but we’ll get there concentrated.”
De Rossi’s words
Genoa are fifteenth in the standings with 19 points, +4 over third-last Fiorentina. Parma is ahead of the rossoblù on 22 points. De Rossi also focused on his colleague Cuesta: “Initially, when we saw that a young, Spanish coach was arriving, we thought he was similar to Fabregas. He tries to make the best of what he has, let’s say he is more Italian than Spanish. In my opinion he is producing good results, he is keeping Parma fairly far from the relegation zone. I know how difficult it is to coach a team to safety at 42 years old, he is doing it at 29-30 years old. He is a good boy, Parma is a team with great individual qualities. They have very good players strong, very interesting”.
The coach also commented on the words of Buffon, head of the national delegation, on Colombo’s possible future in the blue: “I would be a little cautious about this. The national team has important players. We’re keeping Lorenzo close but I think he has the potential to be part of the national team in the future. I don’t know what experiments Rino will do but if he continues like this he will put doubts in the minds of many. Italy won’t finish in March, they won’t finish at the World Cup, there will be room to wear the blue shirt.”
On the game he added: “We are on a good path – he states – if I think back to Milan or the opening minutes against Cagliari and Pisa I want to review these approaches. We must not stop playing, just by scoring more than two goals you can catch your breath a little but the opponents can do the same. The goal stops us a bit, we must not set up barricades”.
Addressing the transfer topic: “With the players I have I have to do my best and if we don’t succeed it will be my fault because we have achieved good results so we are capable of doing them. In January we are looking for two things: either something better or something different. We are trying to make up for the shortcomings.” Finally on the conditions of Onana and Cornet: “Onana is back, he had a couple of days with the flu but I found him fine. Cornet trained today for the first timeto“.
