Conference League: Duels between Mainz 05’s possible opponents are set

The playoffs of the Conference League were drawn at the House of European Football in Nyon on Friday afternoon. This means that the duels between the four possible opponents for 1. FSV Mainz 05, who have already qualified for the round of 16, have been determined. Crystal Palace, trained by former Bundesliga coach Oliver Glasner, will face Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia and Herzegovina and FC Lausanne-Sport from Switzerland will face Sigma Olomouc from the Czech Republic.

Thanks to good performances in the league phase – in addition to four wins and a draw, only one defeat – the Mainz team qualified directly for the round of 16 in seventh place, in a different form than in the Bundesliga. In the round of 16, FSV first has an away game and can play the second leg in their own stadium.

The other duels in the Conference League playoffs are: Kuopion Palloseura against Lech Poznan, Shkendija Tetovo against Samsunspor, FC Noah against AZ Alkmaar, FC Drita against NK Celje and Omonia Nikosia against HNK Rijeka; In addition, AC Florenz with DFB player Robin Gosens has to play against Jagiellonia Bialystok from Poland.

The playoff games will be played on February 19th and 26th. The round of 16 will take place on March 12th and 19th, with the draw taking place on February 27th. The final will take place on May 27th in the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
