Record winner Borussia Düsseldorf can plan for the Final Four in Saarbrücken (May 16th/17th) in the table tennis Champions League.

Former European champion Dang Qiu’s team clearly won the first leg against the Thuringians 3-0 in the German quarter-final duel with Post SV Mühlhausen. In the second leg on the Rhine (February 13th), however, the six-time premier class winner still needs two points to qualify for the semi-finals.

From the Bundesliga, the big favorites 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT are also hoping for a place at their home game in the Saarlandhalle in the fight for their fourth triumph in Europe’s most important club competition.

The club will play its first quarter-final match with its Chinese superstar Fan Zhendong at the French representative GV Hennebont on Friday (7.30 p.m.). The second leg will also take place on February 13th in Trier.

In Mühlhausen, despite the clear result, Düsseldorf didn’t just have an easy time of it. US star Kanak Jha was only able to score points in the opening match against former Chinese team world champion Lin Gaoyuan after losing a 2-0 lead in the decisive short set, as was Qiu afterward against former German team champion Steffen Mengel.

Swedish team Olympic silver medalist Anton Källberg made the decision in favor of the guests with a 3-0 win against former Borussia player Marcos Freitas.
