Belgian singer Sandra Kim, who once won the Eurovision Song Contest with her hit J’aime la Vie, has lashed out at Gerard Joling in a long interview with the Story. “I was shocked when Gerard Joling showed his house on TV in the reality show Only Joling. It was like a museum, with his head on every wall. I don’t like so much egocentrism.”

Gerard is in The Orange Winterwhere Story boss Guido den Aantrekker also sits at the table, asked about these statements. “I thought it was a shitty story,” he says. “‘Hit singer lashes out’ too? She’s had one hit! And it’s about telling me how to do it! Also look at what she looks like! Goddammit.”
“The funny thing is… She is the singer of the song J’aime La Vie from 1986 and she has been very negative, because she says: ‘I am not such an ego tripper as Joling who hangs all kinds of photos of herself on the wall.’ I have that too, but if you look closely, there are only pictures with only big stars. Gorbachev, Shirley Bassey…”
Very modest
Guido explains exactly what Sandra means. “She says it in the context of: ‘I am very modest myself. I took some gold records off the wall and there are only family photos.’”
Gerard: “I have those hanging there too! And gold records and family photos, so Sandra Kim, before you say anything, make sure your homework is in order!”
Not angry
Is Geer angry with that woman now? “I’m not angry about it. These kinds of things just happen. I’m always an open book and I sometimes say things that I later think: maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”
