The place name sign exchange with the Frisian Haskerhorne was finally completed last Saturday in Moerdijk. With the previous action of exchanging the signs, a Frisian New Year’s Eve association wanted to poke fun at the possible disappearance of Moerdijk. But one of the Frisians’ signs is still missing.
The action started as a fun New Year’s stunt by the Frisian New Year’s Eve association Geitefok De Wiite Sik, who wanted to use the stunt to draw attention to their protest against industrial plans near Moerdijk. But while the Frisians had hoped to get their signs completely back, one of the two place name signs still disappeared without a trace on Monday.
During the official exchange, the Frisians only took back one of their two plates. The other sign is still not correct. Also, not all missing banners have been found.
Frustration remains great, both among the initiators of the stunt, Geitefok De Witte Sik, and Moerdijk resident Bianca. She has worked from the start to ensure everything runs smoothly.
New call
Bianca has now placed another call on Facebook. She asks if anyone knows where the missing sign is, or who owns it.
“If they do not get this sign back, the Frisians will have to have a new one made and pay for it themselves.”she writes. “That would really put a damper on their New Year’s stunt.” Making a new sign can easily cost 600 euros.
