The explosion occurred around 3 a.m. local time this morning, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations. It is not clear what happened or how many people were still in the nightclub when the incident occurred.
The rescue operation is still underway, the ministry said. The fire that broke out after the explosion has since been extinguished.
