“Some arrive in a wheelchair and stand straight on the field”: Antwerp football club trains young people with brain damage

“If I can wear that shirt in green and white, I finally feel like a real club player.” For years, football was something Dominique (28) saw from the sidelines, but at Groenenhoek Sport he is really on the field. Dominique has a motor disability after a brain injury, just like all his ten teammates, the youngest of whom is 8 years old. “We don’t say, ‘This isn’t possible.’ We are looking for solutions,” says the club that is competing for the title of Golden Youth Club.
