No podium place for the German biathletes in Oberhof. In the last race, Franziska Preuß at least made it into the top 5. The victory went to Sweden.
Sprint winner Eliva Öberg also won the 10-kilometer pursuit in Oberhof. The Swede confidently beat the competition at the Biathlon World Cup in Thuringia after four shootings with only one shooting error. The Finnish Suvi Minkkinen came second ahead of Öberg’s older sister Hanna Öberg. The best German was Franziska Preuß, who, after finishing fifth in the sprint, also came fifth in the pursuit.
Preuß: Two penalties and 21st running time
Preuß finished 1:20.7 minutes behind Elivra Öberg with two shooting errors; the overall World Cup winner from the previous season was around 15 seconds short of the podium. A penalty lap after the second prone stage, one after the first standing stage and only the 21st best running time of the entire competition prevented a better placing.
Voigt from 27 to 8
Vanessa Voigt also showed a strong race, improving to eighth place after finishing 27th in the sprint with faultless shooting. The Oberhofer skipped the relay on Saturday for reasons of regeneration and showed improved running on Sunday. In the sole pursuit calculation, Voigt showed the fifth best performance.
Hettich-Walz was defeated with five errors
Janina Hettich-Walz missed the chance for her first podium finish since March 2024 at the first standing attempt. After two faultless prone stages, she came fourth in the standing stage. But two penalties caused him to drop back to sixth place. The gap to the top grew to around a minute. Three more errors in the second standing stage dropped her out of the top 15.
