(toskanews) – One of the symbolic innovations of CES 2026the tech fair that just ended in Las Vegas, is it Lego Smart Bricks. Presented with the new platform Smart Playthe brick that brings sounds and interaction to the game, is equipped with sensors and speakers which recognize colours, movements and scenarios, activating sound effects in real time. From the battles of Star Wars to the sirens of police cars, each construction comes to life, transforming the game into an ever-changing experience.
The system is designed for children between six and nine years old and aims to stimulate creativity and learning through experimentation. «When children play with these bricks they try, surprise themselves and try again. And it is precisely this that frees their imagination, because it pushes them to experiment, learn and have new ideas”, he explained Tom Donaldsonhead of Lego’s Creative Play Lab.
At the basis of the project is a technology developed internally that allows the bricks to “dialogue” with each other without control units or external sensors, making the game more natural and spontaneous.
«We worked closely with the Lego designers to make the sounds as authentic as possible. The tags tell the Smart Brick what to play, and that’s how we were able to create a truly faithful Star Wars experience,” he said.
