2:04 p.m
Goodbye!
We say goodbye to the second day of the Nordic Combined competition in Otepää. We continue tomorrow, Sunday, with the Individual Compact format.
2:00 p.m
Gruber best Austrian
Katharina Gruber achieved the best result from the Austrian team in fifth place. Claudia Purker took twelfth place, while Annalena Slamik fought her way to the finish in 24th place. Anna-Sophia Gredler crossed the finish line in 29th place.
13:57
Armbruster comes seventh
Nathalie Armbruster moved up from eleventh to seventh place in cross-country skiing. Behind her, Jenny Nowak finished the race in eighth place. She was able to keep up with Korhonen for a long time, but had to give up on the last lap. Trine Göpfert is in 15th place, Ronja Loh is in 13th place. Sofia Eggensberger and Maja Loh are in positions 26 and 27.
13:51
Kasai takes second place
In the end, Ingrid Låte has no chance against the strong competition and is mercilessly pushed back to fifth place shortly before the finish. Yuna Kasai won second place in the tight finish sprint. Minja Korhonen comes third ahead of Alexa Brabec.
1:50 p.m
Hagen books their next victory
Ida Marie Hagen safely booked her 22nd victory in the World Cup. But who will come in second? Will Ingrid Låte manage to celebrate her first podium in the World Cup or will the competition still pass?
13:47
Låte the hunted
Ingrid Låte is now struggling mightily and her lead over her competition is shrinking. She is only twelve seconds ahead of Minja Korhonen from Finland. Can she pull this off?
13:47
Nothing works for Nowak anymore
Before the last climb, Jenny Nowak can’t do anything and she has to let Gruber and Kasai go too!
13:46
The last round
Ida Marie Hagen at the front turns safely onto the last lap. But how is the field behind it developing? Brabec and Korhonen reduced the gap towards Låte to just under 30 seconds. For Jenny Nowak, however, it means letting it be torn down. She is now traveling with Kasai and Gruber. Armbruster remains in eighth place and currently has to run a lonely race.
13:39
Hagen escapes the competition
Ida Marie Hagen escapes Låte and will certainly run towards her next victory from now on. But everything behind remains open. Can Låte save over half a minute to the finish and at least take second place? For her part, Alexa Brabec has gotten close to Korhonen and Nowak and Kasai and Gruber are not far away either.
13:37
It’s already Hagen’s turn
This is how you know Ida Marie Hagen! She doesn’t think about slowing down and after two kilometers she already passes Låte to take the lead.
1:35 p.m
Armbruster also does a lot of things well
Nathalie Armbruster was also able to make up some of her deficit in the first kilometer. She is now in eighth place and running together with Purker from Austria, who will certainly not follow Armbruster for long. In terms of running, Purker is considered weaker.
13:33
Half is already gone
Half of Ingrid Låte’s lead is already history. After one kilometer, Hagen is only 36 seconds behind. Minja Korhonen and Jenny Nowak, who are traveling together, are still 1:19 minutes apart.
13:31
Låte on the track
Ingrid Låte from Norway is the first to take to the track. The weaker runner will certainly have a tough race ahead of her today with the heavy snowfall on the already selective route.
13:24
Role of favorite clearly assigned
The role of favorite is once again clear and Ida Marie Hagen will be hard to beat, especially since it’s over the longer distance today. Ingrid Låte was able to win the PCR on Thursday with ease, but Hagen’s teammate is considered weak on the cross-country ski trail and is likely to be quickly caught by Hagen, who is the second starter on the track. The starting position is more difficult for Nathalie Armbruster after she finished eleventh in the PCR with 2:16 minutes. Something could still be possible towards the podium. Lisa Hirner from Austria has to miss the start after an infection.
13:04
Welcome back
The second part of the Nordic Combined in Otepää is scheduled for the women and the first starter will take to the track at 1:30 p.m. Since there is only a two-kilometer loop available, six kilometers will be run today instead of five.
11:10
See you later!
With that we say goodbye to the Estonian Otepää. At 1:30 p.m. the women will start their cross-country skiing competition in the Gundersen competition. Since the combined athletes only completed four kilometers instead of five yesterday due to the shortened route, the women in the Gundersen competition are running six kilometers instead of five today.
11:06
Gruber goes into the trail in fifth place
Katharina Gruber also has a good starting position for the run with her jump of 89.5 meters in the first provisional competition jump and fifth place. The Austrian starts the course 1:46 minutes behind. Her compatriots Claudia Purker (+2:03 mins) and Lisa Hirner (+2:11) are also in the top 10 with eighth and tenth places. Anna-Sophia Gredler (+3:19) and Annalena Slamik (+3:26) want to finish in the top 15 from ranks 19 and 20.
11:03
Nowak with a good starting position
After her fourth place in the first provisional competition jump, Jenny Nowak is the best German after jumping. She starts the trail from fourth place, 1:38 minutes behind Låte. Nathalie Armbruster starts from eleventh place, but is already 2:16 minutes behind. The other Germans are starting the race with Trine Göpfert (+2:18), Ronja Loh (+2:24), Sofia Eggensberger (+3:50) and Maja Loh (+4:04) from places 12, 13, 25 and 29.
11:01
Låte wins the PCR ahead of Hagen and Korhonen
Once again, the best jumper in the World Cup, Ingrid Låte, showed the best performance in the first PCR on Thursday and jumped a strong 102 meters. This means that the Norwegian starts the race with a lead of 1:12 minutes over her compatriot Ida Marie Hagen and the Finn Minja Korhonen (+1:33 minutes).
10:58
Women’s jumping also canceled
After a small wind window where Maja Loh was the only athlete able to get off the beam, there are now gusts of up to eight meters per second again. For this reason, the jury decided to cancel the combined jump and to use the first provisional competition jump from Thursday as the basis for the run at 1.30 p.m.
10:55
It remains to be seen
It’s her compatriot Sofia Eggensberger’s turn. She also has to sit on top of the beam for a long time and has to come down again after a minute. In her second attempt, the 18-year-old had to go down again because there were now gusts of up to seven meters per second. Even in the third attempt, the DSV athlete was not let down. Now one more jumper is lowered. It’s now a matter of waiting, the athletes have covered themselves with blankets on the steps, but the jumper is currently not being lowered due to too much wind. There are wind gusts of up to eight meters per second.
10:47
Maja Loh (GER)
The first athlete sits on the beam. Maja Loh is making her second World Cup start today and starts from hatch 13. The DSV athlete is waved off and flies to 79 meters. She has problems landing, but is able to hold the jump and sets the first best distance of the day.
10:42
Jury probably wants to try it
The conditions have improved somewhat. Two forerunners have already left the beam. It looks like the jury wants to at least give the women a try. The wind has weakened somewhat and there are only wind gusts of a maximum of four meters per second.
10:40
Five Austrians reported
In addition to the currently best Austrian in the World Cup, Katharina Gruber (start number 30), who celebrated her first victory in her career in the mass start this season, there are four other Austrians with Lisa Hirner (27), Claudia Purker (14), Annalena Slamik (13) and Anna-Sophia Gredler (6).
10:32
Six DSV athletes at the start again
As on Friday, six German combined athletes are taking part in the Gundersen competition today. Sofia Eggensberger and Maja Loh made it directly into the points in their World Cup debut yesterday and are starting with numbers one and two today. Likewise, Maja Loh’s sister, Ronja Loh (20). Trine Göpfert (21), Jenny Nowak (24) and Nathalie Armbruster are also set.
10:28
Armbruster comes third with Ida Marie Hagen winning
The women’s jumping was also canceled on Friday due to too much wind and the second PCR on Thursday was counted. When Ida Marie Hagen won, the 20-year-old took third place behind the Finnish Minja Korhonen. At the same time, the Finn achieved her best result in her career to date.
10:18
The conditions
As with the men, it also seems tidy for the women and it is windy. After the cancellation of the men’s jumping, those responsible are now hoping to at least get the combined women’s jumping through. If no jumping can take place for the women, the first provisional competition jump on Thursday will also be counted for them.
10:12
Good morning
Hello and welcome to the second day of competition at the Nordic Combined in Otepää, Estonia. At 10.45 a.m. the women start off the jump in the Gundersen competition. Whether jumping is possible for women remains questionable after the men’s cancellation.
