Rokkeveeners have little to complain about in their beautiful green part of town, except for one thing. There are no trams. To make it easier for residents to travel to the center, the municipality is introducing a new bus line. It’s called The Opstap.

The Opstap runs every hour from Rokkeveen to Dorp and the Stadshart. This is especially nice for people who currently have little access to public transport, for example because they live far from the current bus stops.

First ride

On Monday, January 5, De Opstap left for the first time with a number of important people in his belly: councilors and employees of the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Region who helped with this project. After the ride, Mobility Councilor Véronique Frinking said: “With De Opstap we open the door to more convenience and combating loneliness. A message or just a visit. It’s possible.”

Timetable

De Opstap runs on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., with one trip per direction every hour. The bus fits nine passengers and you pay 2 euros per ride. The bus follows a fixed route with fixed stops in Rokkeveen, Dorp and the Stadshart. More information about the route and timetable can be found on the municipality website.
