As a regular guest of RTL Tonight, Michiel Vos is not sad that Renze Klamer has left as presenter of that program. “It is also good that we are now following what has been devised,” he says.

The past year was not a good one for Renze Klamer, career-wise. The presenter lost his talk show because Peter van der Vorst wanted to experiment with RTL Tonight. However, he did not feel comfortable with that formula, and RTL did not feel like adapting everything to his wishes. Ultimately, Renze is out and RTL Tonight is still on the air.

Buffling on

What does Michiel Vos think about that? “Of course it’s a shame,” he says Weekend. “But it is also good that the program is now in place and that it follows how it was conceived. Now we have to see if we can become a bigger player, in the 10 p.m. time slot. I am firmly convinced that this is possible.”

According to him, this is just a matter of being persistent. “Everyone is of course talking about the viewing figures, but you just have to keep going. It’s a new format, don’t complain. We may have to get used to it, but I have full confidence in it.”

“Everyone’s calling!”

While Renze is now sitting on the couch unemployed, Michiel does not have to worry about odd jobs. “Everyone is calling, because everyone wants something about Trump. This includes The Friday Move, Radio 2, you name it.”

“I recently asked Ruud de Wild: ‘Aren’t your listeners done with America?’ But he said, ‘No man! You are the craziest of the class. We just want more and more.’”
