SC Freiburg is known for planning long-term and closing construction sites in the squad before they arise. This now also seems to be the case at the right-back position. According to reports from Switzerland, the Breisgauers are working on signing Loun Srdanovic.

According to the “Tribune de Geneve”, the 19-year-old full-back from Servette FC from Geneva is on the list of several foreign clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Lyon and LOSC Lille as well as BSC Young Boys. The most concrete thing this winter was apparently a transfer to Freiburg. The sports club’s plan was a permanent commitment and an immediate loan to Servette FC until the summer. However, this plan was slowed down by several injuries this season, which led to more restraint from the Bundesliga club. It is unclear whether a new attempt is planned or whether the transfer is off the table.
Srdanovic only made eleven appearances across all competitions this season and yet increased his market value significantly from 100,000 to 1.2 million euros. Sooner or later the youngster is likely to leave the club because that is also his club’s plan. “For a player who has come through the club’s youth academy, this would be a logical next step,” Servette president Hervé Broch is quoted as saying in the report. “But of course with a correspondingly high transfer fee.
At Freiburg there is actually no need at the back right, as Philipp Treu was only brought in last summer from FC St. Pauli for 5.5 million euros. Nevertheless, a long-term change in the outside positions is necessary, as captain Christian Günter (32) moves to the left and Lukas Kübler (33) moves to the right into the autumn of their careers. The future should belong to Jordy Makengo (24) on the left and Treu, who can hold both positions, and Max Rosenfelder (22) and Bruno Ogbus (20) can also help out at the back on the right. Most recently, Günter, Kübler and Treu were even in the starting line-up together because the latter was deployed on the offensive wing.
