Mike van Kemenade races along the local canal at the Dorpsstraat on his snowboard through a winter snow landscape. His black dog Nero pulls him along the sidewalk with all his might. Every now and then he picks up a hill while the dog continues to run enthusiastically. “It’s Nero’s first winter with snow.”

Sledding, throwing snowballs, making snowmen or mountain biking; the thick snow in Zoetermeer brings a lot of people out. Mike got home from work in the afternoon and didn’t know how quickly to get his snowboard out. “Nero thought his first snowflakes were a bit strange, but after that he started to enjoy them more and more.”
On winter sports
Mike is a winter sports enthusiast and regularly travels to Austria to go snowboarding. Winter sports in your own city are fantastic for him. He lives in Palenstein and walks his two-year-old dog Nero in the neighborhood every day. The young four-legged friend, adopted from Greece, has a lot of energy, so Mike decided to use him as a sled dog. “I keep trying out short stretches with him. It shouldn’t be too cold and tiring for him.”

Fall over
Mike attached his bindings to his board and put a colored winter jacket on Nero. At Park Palenstein he rushes down the hill between the sledding children and occasionally falls over when Nero suddenly decides to stand still. Together they take the footpath along the water again and then end up about 100 meters further on.
To run

Running with his boss is not new for Nero because Mike also likes running. I regularly clip the dog leash to a leash around my waist. Nero then runs a little ahead of me and we set off together.”
