Daniel Peretz’s change odyssey continues. Now the keeper is also leaving HSV.

Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz has completed his loan move from Hamburger SV to FC Southampton. The 25-year-old hopes to get more playing time in the English second division and help the club gain promotion to the Premier League. Peretz: “I want to help the team return to the Premier League. Even if it is a difficult goal, I think it is realistic.”

At Hamburger SV, Peretz was unable to get past goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes and only made two appearances in the DFB Cup. In order to improve his sporting situation, he decided to leave the club. FC Southampton and FC Bayern, Peretz’s actual employer, confirmed the transfer on Thursday. Perez still has a contract in Munich until 2028.

At the beginning of December he had already expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of match practice. “I expected to be number one. That hasn’t been the case so far. Of course I’m not happy about it. I’m making no secret of that,” he told “Sport Bild”. According to Sky, Southampton also secured a purchase option worth eight million euros, which is above the transfer fee that Bayern paid to Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023. That was five million euros back then.

In Southampton, Peretz will meet German team manager Tonda Eckert and technical director Johannes Spors.
