Due to the slippery conditions, the KNMI has also declared code yellow in the province for the entire day today. North Hollanders must take ice on roads, cycle paths and sidewalks into account. The warning applies until 4 a.m. on the night of Friday to Saturday.

In contrast to the past few days, there have been no disruptions on the railway around Amsterdam so far today, ProRail reports. However, NS still operates according to a winter timetable. This means that fewer trains will be used on some routes. Travelers must take into account extra travel time, more frequent transfers and crowds on the trains.

This includes the Alkmaar – Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam Central – Haarlem routes. There are also fewer sprinters driving from CS to Almere Oostvaarders and from Hoofddorp to CS.

Bus transport is slowly getting started

Bus transport in North Holland is also slowly getting back on track. Bus operator EBS, which arranges transport in Zaanstreek-Waterland, is trying to operate according to the normal timetable this morning.

GVB says on its website that all buses, trams and metros will run as normal today, but that travelers should take into account ‘possible delays and canceled journeys’. Connexxion/Transdev also reports that the bus lines in North Holland are expected to run according to the timetable.
