The interim test returns in Brabant. From Thursday morning, such a test exam can be scheduled again at the CBR. In April 2025, the test was forced to be canceled because the waiting time for driving tests was far too long.

The large number of exam requests arose during the two corona lockdowns. Then driving tests at the CBR were canceled en masse.

By canceling the interim test, many places became available for practical exams. This way, the CBR in Brabant was able to catch up.

What is an interim test?
The interim test is a trial exam where students can practice the exam before they actually apply for their driver’s license.

In such a test, the examiner assesses driving skills in the run-up to the real exam. This allows a candidate, and the driving instructor, to know whether the candidate is on the right track or still needs some extra lessons.

Fixed operations (such as reversing parking and turning on the road) are also tested. If you perform them correctly during the trial exam, you will not be tested on them during the real exam.

From Thursday, the first test can be scheduled for February 16. That’s earlier than expected. The CBR initially said it would not administer interim tests for a year. The waiting time for the driving test is less than eight weeks and is now stable again, according to the CBR.

Reserving an interim test
Driving school holders in Brabant can book an interim test again from Thursday morning at the CBR exam locations in Eindhoven, Mierlo, Berkel-Enschot, Den Bosch, Bergen op Zoom and Breda.
