Renze Klamer is nowhere to be seen since his departure from RTL Tonight. We no longer see him on TV, he has closed all his social media and the paparazzi are not in their sights either.
It is completely unclear what will happen to Renze Klamer now that he has resigned as presenter of the failed RTL Tonight. He was brought to RTL 4 with the promise of his own talk show, but channel boss Peter van der Vorst proved unreliable, pulled Renze’s name off the wall and forced him to merge with the generic RTL Tonight.
Renze disappeared
Renze has resigned there, but there are no other plans for him yet. Just before his departure, he blocked off all his social media. In other words: he has disappeared. “No, there is no news at all about Renze Klamer. It is dead quiet. We don’t hear anything from him anymore. He also no longer has social media,” says TV authority Tina Nijkamp.
She continues in her podcast Tina’s TV Update: “It also remains completely silent from RTL. The program Race Across The World, for example, is a program that he could possibly have presented, but RTL had chosen not to put a presenter on it. As we know, Martijn Krabbé will do the voice-over for it.”
‘Something is going on’
The situation is mysterious, Tina thinks. “We have not yet heard from other programs that he will present that, and so to me it seems that there is really something going on between Renze Klamer and RTL.”
Renze probably just wants to return to public broadcasting. “In any case, it is a bit too quiet and I honestly think that Renze Klamer hopes for Jeroen Pauw to retire. That would suit him very well, because then he could of course very well join the team at Pauw & De Wit.”
Very quiet
Jeroen Pauw has sometimes said that he will stop presenting talk shows if he sees a suitable successor. “I think Renze would prefer that,” says Tina.
“I don’t want to speak for him, but as far as I’m concerned he fits in best. Who knows. Maybe he just needs to be patient, but for now it is indeed very quiet.”
